Jennifer Wong is an experienced writer based in Sydney, Australia.

Read writing samplesShe has worked on HK Magazine (Hong Kong) and Asian Legal Business (Sydney, Singapore, Hong Kong) as a researcher and journalist. As content coordinator in the 2007 APEC Taskforce, she worked closely with Australian government departments in editing material for press releases, print and web.

Comedy clips coming soonAt the same time, she was performing stand-up comedy regularly at the Sydney Comedy Store and Comedy on the Rox in Glebe. It started with an open mic comedy night in 2005, and since 2006 she has performed at almost 80 open mic nights and new comic showcases in Sydney. Today, Jennifer’s stand-up can be heard on Australia’s longest running comedy program Home Grown Humour, which is broadcast on 60 stations.

readcartoons2Armed always with pen and notebook for comedy, Jennifer started cartooning in the quiet moments between manning the sound desk, doing the door, and performing at Comedy on the Rox and A Mic in Hand, two comedy rooms in Sydney. In 2008, stand-up comedy led to work as a writer for the series return of Network Ten’s Good News Week, and as editor of RoveDaily.com.au, one of the only websites in Australia with a stable of writers dedicated to humour writing.

Jennifer has a Bachelor of Asian Studies degree from the Australian National University, and is a member of the Sydney PEN Centre and the Victorian Writers’ Centre.

Jennifer is currently working as a volunteer and consultant on several web projects in Sydney and Melbourne, including the What’s Working website that Women for Wik launched on Sunday 28th June in Sydney.

She has more than five years’ experience working part-time as a bookseller in Sydney, and is passionate about the transformative power of reading, writing and the performing arts.
